Sail across the Bay of
Naples to the Isle of Capri, where Gracie Fields once lived.
In the company of a guide, we explore this picturesque island
with its whitewashed houses, colourful gardens, cafés and
intriguing alleyways.
Sorrento
Relax and enjoy some free
time in the resort of Sorrento; smart shops, superb cliff
scenery, a delightful harbour area, friendly locals and great
food and drink. Take a break from sunbathing and sip a coffee
or Limoncello.
Pompeii and Vesuvius
(optional).
Accompanied by a guide,
discover the history and life of the great Roman city of Pompeii,
buried in the eruption of 79AD. We also drive to the top of
Mount Vesuvius, which commands spectacular views. You can
walk the final 1,000 metres to the summit to view inside the
crater. (a local charge of €6.50 is at extra cost).
Amalfi (optional).
The ‘Amalfi Drive’ is said
to be the most spectacular road in Europe. From Sorrento,
the cliff-top road offers stunning panoramic views at every
bend. We make a stop at Amalfi, which gives its name to this
whole beautiful coast. The hillside is dominated by the Cathedral,
which stands regally at the top of a great flight of steps
leading up from the main square. From Amalfi we visit Ravello,
which nestles in the hillside above the sea.
Your Hotels
For your seven-night stay
in Sorrento, you have a selection of five hotels to choose
from. The Hotel Londra and the Hotel Europa Palace are on
a bed and breakfast basis, whereas evening dinner is also
included each night in the other hotels.
Hotel Londra (bed and breakfast). This comfortable familyrun
3-star hotel is located in Sant’Agnello di Sorrento, approximately
400 metres to the lift for the beach and a 20 to 30-minute
stroll to Piazza Tasso in the heart of Sorrento. A local bus
to the centre stops in front of the hotel. Guests can use
the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, sun terrace, bar and lounge.
All of the comfortable bedrooms have T.V. and telephone. Please
note there is a supplement for air-conditioning and this needs
to be paid locally. Half board is available at a supplement
of £35 per person (for 7 evening meals).
Hotel Ascot (half board). This family-run 3-star hotel is
just a short walk from the bars, restaurants and shops in
Sorrento’s main square, the Piazza Tasso. It has a restaurant,
bar, lift, outdoor swimming pool and roof terrace. All bedrooms
have T.V. and hairdryer. Please note there is a supplement
for air-conditioning and this needs to be paid locally.
Hotel Eden (half board). The 3-star Hotel Eden is located
just a few minutes from Sorrento’s main square, the Piazza
Tasso. This recently renovated hotel offers a restaurant overlooking
the garden, bar, lift and free use of the adjacent hotel swimming
pool. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone, airconditioning and
hairdryer. There is a supplement for air-conditioning and
this needs to be paid locally.
Hotel Michelangelo (half board). The 4-star Hotel Michelangelo
is situated just a 5-minute stroll from the centre of Sorrento.
It has a restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool and roof terrace.All
bedrooms have T.V., telephone, air-conditioning and hairdryer.
Hotel Europa Palace (bed and breakfast). One of the most charming
hotels in Sorrento, this 4-star hotel overlooks the sea and
is just a short walk from the old centre of the town. It has
a restaurant with terrace, bar, lift and outdoor swimming
pool. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone and hairdryer.
