Castles of Bavaria - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
UK to Liege To Dover
for the short crossing to Calais, then on into Belgium and
Liege for our overnight stay.
DAY 8: Lechaschau to Liege Bidding farewell to Lechaschau, we depart for
Belgium and our overnight hotel in the Liege
area. (B,D)
DAY 2: Liege to Lechaschau Southwards through Germany and into Austria,
arriving in Lechaschau in time for dinner. (B,D)
DAY 9: Liege to UK After breakfast we make our way to Calais for
the sailing to Dover and home. (B)
DAYS 3 to 7: Lechaschau At leisure in Lechaschau, perfectly situated for
visiting the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig,
Bavaria’s famous son. Enjoy the highlights of this
lovely part of Austria and neighbouring Germany
on our included excursions. (B,D)

Full
Day: Neuschwanstein Castle & the Wieskirche Neuschwanstein
is the ultimate fairy-tale castle and Germany’s most
famous attraction. Begun in 1869 and never finished, it was
intended as a tribute to medieval German chivalry and to Wagner
and his music. We also visit the beautiful Wieskirche, meaning
Meadow Church, Germany’s best-known pilgrimage church.
Half Day: Oberammergau & Ettal Abbey We visit the Bavarian town of Oberammergau,
famous for its legendary Passion Play. We also
make a stop at the Benedictine Monastery of
Ettal, founded in 1330. Half
Day: Linderhof Castle Known among
locals as the ‘Wedding Cake’, the palace of Linderhof
is a replica of Louis the XIV’s Versailles. The only
one of Ludwig’s castles that was actually completed,
Linderhof was built as the King’s private retreat and
is surrounded by carefully maintained gardens.
