DAY 7: Whistler to Victoria The ‘Sea
to Sky’ highway leads us south today through some spectacular
coastal scenery. From Horseshoe Bay we cruise by ferry across
the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island and continue by
coach to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city.
En route we visit Chemainus, the small waterfront town known
as the largest outdoor gallery, featuring more than thirty-three
historic murals, celebrating the town’s historic people,
buildings and events. Stay overnight at the Chateau Victoria,
Victoria. (B)
DAY 2: Calgary to Banff Begin with a tour of Calgary,
set in the foothills of the snow-capped Canadian Rockies,
and see the Calgary Tower, Chinatown, Fort Calgary and the
Saddledome. We continue to the Rocky Mountains and Banff National
Park where we stay for two nights at the Mount Royal Hotel
or Banff International Hotel, Banff. (B)
DAY 3: Banff Today we’ll
enjoy a tour of the region around Banff, the area that became
Canada’s first natural park in 1885 to protect its natural
hot springs, Cave and Basin. Opportunity to join an optional
helicopter tour to see the eastern range of the Rocky Mountains,
a gondola ride to the magnificent Sulphur Mountain, or relax
and explore the charms of this small alpine town. (B)
DAY 8: Victoria Enjoy a
tour of Victoria with its quaint maritime heritage and colonial
demeanour, evident in the many 19th century landmarks. Explore
the Royal British Columbia Museum, the Parliament Buildings
and the Thunderbird Park, with its fine collection of original
and replica totem poles and other Indian carvings. Rest of
the day at leisure, why not join an optional Whale watching
excursion. (B)
DAY 4: Banff to Jasper Shortly
after leaving Banff we visit the famous scenery of Lake Louise,
set in a hanging valley with a backdrop of the majestic mountains
of the Continental Divide, this beautiful glacier-fed lake
remains one of the most visited and photographed sites in
the Canadian Rockies. Afterwards we travel north on the famous
Icefields Parkway through a rugged wilderness flanked by dramatic
mountain ranges. At the Columbia Icefield, the largest subpolar
icefield on the continent, we board a specially constructed
Ice Explorer to ride on the ancient Athabasca Glacier, at
an altitude of over 3.000
metres. Then on to Jasper, a pleasant town in the valley of
the Athabasca River where we stay overnight at the Sawridge
Inn and Conference Centre or Lobstick Lodge, Jasper. (B)

the Saanich peninsula to Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s
great floral displays set in a reclaimed stone quarry. The
colourful flower arrangements change from season to season
but the effect is always strikingly beautiful Continue on

to Vancouver, Canada’s third largest city and almost
completely surrounded by mountains. Our included guided city
