Rockies Trail - Tour Itinerary
DAY 1: UK to Calgary
Fly to Calgary and transfer to the Delta Bow Valley, Calgary for an overnight stay. Meet your Tour Manager and fellow travellers, evening at leisure.
DAY 7: Whistler to Victoria
The ‘Sea to Sky’ highway leads us south today through some spectacular coastal scenery. From Horseshoe Bay we cruise by ferry across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island and continue by coach to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city. En route we visit Chemainus, the small waterfront town known as the largest outdoor gallery, featuring more than thirty-three historic murals, celebrating the town’s historic people, buildings and events. Stay overnight at the Chateau Victoria, Victoria. (B)
DAY 2: Calgary to Banff
Begin with a tour of Calgary, set in the foothills of the snow-capped Canadian Rockies, and see the Calgary Tower, Chinatown, Fort Calgary and the Saddledome. We continue to the Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park where we stay for two nights at the Mount Royal Hotel or Banff International Hotel, Banff. (B)
DAY 3: Banff
Today we’ll enjoy a tour of the region around Banff, the area that became Canada’s first natural park in 1885 to protect its natural hot springs, Cave and Basin. Opportunity to join an optional helicopter tour to see the eastern range of the Rocky Mountains, a gondola ride to the magnificent Sulphur Mountain, or relax and explore the charms of this small alpine town. (B)
DAY 8: Victoria
Enjoy a tour of Victoria with its quaint maritime heritage and colonial demeanour, evident in the many 19th century landmarks. Explore the Royal British Columbia Museum, the Parliament Buildings and the Thunderbird Park, with its fine collection of original and replica totem poles and other Indian carvings. Rest of the day at leisure, why not join an optional Whale watching excursion. (B)
DAY 4: Banff to Jasper
Shortly after leaving Banff we visit the famous scenery of Lake Louise, set in a hanging valley with a backdrop of the majestic mountains of the Continental Divide, this beautiful glacier-fed lake remains one of the most visited and photographed sites in the Canadian Rockies. Afterwards we travel north on the famous Icefields Parkway through a rugged wilderness flanked by dramatic mountain ranges. At the Columbia Icefield, the largest subpolar icefield on the continent, we board a specially constructed Ice Explorer to ride on the ancient Athabasca Glacier, at an altitude of over 3.000
metres. Then on to Jasper, a pleasant town in the valley of the Athabasca River where we stay overnight at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre or Lobstick Lodge, Jasper. (B)

DAY 9: Victoria to Vancover
Travel up the Saanich peninsula to Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s great floral displays set in a reclaimed stone quarry. The colourful flower arrangements change from season to season but the effect is always strikingly beautiful Continue on with a pleasant cruise through the Gulf Islands resort region to Vancouver, Canada’s third largest city and almost completely surrounded by mountains. Our included guided city tour will introduce you to sights, such as the Stanley Park, English Bay, Gastown, Chinatown and much more. Rest of the day is at leisure and you can further explore your favourite parts of the city. Enjoy this evening’s Farewell Dinner at the Capilano Suspension Bridge with a welcome from the First Nations carvers. Overnight at the Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites. (B, D)
DAY 5: Jasper to Sun Peaks
Travel west on Yellowhead Highway and into the heartland of British Columbia with breathtaking views and unspoiled vistas everywhere. The route takes us along the Thompson River through the picturesque Shuswap Highlands and on to Sun Peaks. Overnight at the Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge or Delta Sun Peaks Resort. (B)
DAY 10: Inflight
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
DAY11: Arrive UK
Arrive back in the UK.
DAY 6: Sun Peaks to Whistler
A day of dramatic scenery changes as we drive through the ranch lands and head for the coastal mountains and Whistler, Canada’s famous ski resort, with its three alpine hamlets, Whistler Village, Village North and Upper Village. Rest of the day at leisure. We stay overnight at the Delta Whistler or Village Suites, Whistler. (B)
