An optional excursion takes us to Freiburg, the capital city of the Black Forest region. Explore the abundance of shops and soak up the festive atmosphere in this lively old town. Complete your day with a memorable horse and carriage ride through streets of this old town. B,D

CHRISTMAS EVE: (Executive coach) Glass & Crystal Village
After a relaxing breakfast, join our optional morning excursion to a local glass and crystal village where you can watch the craftsmen at work or visit the Christmas Village and buy handmade glass baubles and tree decorations. Finish the morning with a coffee in the café and sample the local delicacy, 'Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte', a sweet, cherry pastry. Return to your hotel this afternoon, and later, celebrate Christmas the old-fashioned way with the hoteliers. Enjoy cookies with a glass of warming mulled wine. B,D

Join our included excursion for a scenic morning drive through the winter countryside of the Schwarzwald (Black Forest). Visit the pretty lakeside village of Titisee and take a stroll along the promenade. Marvel at the majesty of the beautiful countryside, with its rolling mountains and snow-covered evergreen forests. Return to your hotel for a traditional turkey Christmas dinner with live music. B,D

BOXING DAY: Schaffhausen & Stein-an- Rhein (optional)
An optional excursion is available to Schaffhausen and Stein-an- Rhein, two pretty towns just over the border in Switzerland. Your guide will explain the unique way the town of Stein an Rhein celebrates Christmas. The shopkeepers in the old town elaborately decorate their shop windows to depict a fairytale. By following these windows in a certain order, the fairytale is told. The old town of Schaffhausen is dominated by the imposing Munot Fortress. Take time to stroll and shop in the narrow streets in this medieval Swiss town. Enjoy your last evening at the hotel with many happy memories to share during your farewell dinner. B,D

DEC 27: Strasbourg (included)
Depart from our hotel and enjoy a visit to Strasbourg, a vibrant, multicultural city and the capital of the Alsace region. Take in the Christmas Market or the enchanting old quarters like 'La Petite France'. Continue our journey to your overnight stay in northern France. B

Travel to Calais for your return journey home. B
