Festive Dresden Christmas
fruit loaf (Stollen) and tasty Pulsnitz gingerbread, lights
atop wooden Erzgebirge pyramids and arcs, incense-burning
figures, and Christmas carols under a Christmas tree decorated
with glass ornaments. All these traditions originate from
Dresden and its environs. And ever since the year 1434 the
festive season has always begun with a giant Christmas market
featuring traditional skilled handiwork from Dresden and the
surrounding area.

DAY 1: We travel
to Belgium for an overnight stay.
DAY 2: Continue
into Germany to Berlin for a four-night stay. B

We spend a day at leisure, experiencing the magic of Berlin’s
splendid Christmas markets, sporting many traditional festive
goods. There’s also the opportunity to join our sightseeing
tour (optional), taking in the Brandenburg Gate, part of
the old Berlin Wall and the Reichstag. B
DAY 4:
Dresden (included) A full-day
excursion to the historic city of Dresden, the so-called
‘Florence on the Elbe’. We explore Germany’s oldest Christmas
market, the ‘Striezelmarkt’, first recorded in 1434. The
market is named after Dresden’s traditional Christmas fruit
loaf, or ‘Striezel’. B
DAY 5:
day at
leisure to further explore the delights of Berlin. B
DAY 6:
Depart
from Berlin and return to Belgium for an overnight stay.

We journey
to Calais then return home. B
