The Magic of Austria and Prague - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
We travel to Belgium for an overnight stay.
DAY 6: Cesky Krumlov (included).
We leave Austria and head to Prague, en route we stop at medieval Cesky Krumlov, one of the most beautiful towns of Southern Bohemia. Its narrow streets and imposing 13th-century castle are an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town; the rich Renaissance architecture still reflects the influence of the rich, powerful and noble Rozmberk family. Later, as we reach Prague, join our optional Historic Tram ride through the streets of Prague (optional). Accompanied by a live musician, we will travel through the city at a leisurely pace in our own private coach on the tram, settling back with a glass of bubbly and watching the monuments of the glittering golden city drift by. We spend two nights in Prague. B,D
DAY 2:
We arrive in Vocklabruck, Upper Austria for a four-night stay. B,D
DAY 3: Salzkammergut Lakes (optional, included on Siver Service).
We visit St.Wolfgang, one of the largest and most famous lakes of the Austrian Lake District then stop at St. Gilgen, birthplace of Mozart’s mother, where you can explore the lakeside, shops or relax in one of the cafes. We lastly visit the spa town of Bad Ischl, the favourite summer residence of the Emperor Franz Josef, before our scenic drive continues along the banks of the Traunsee Lake. B,D
DAY 4: Vienna (included).
An elegant city with a variety of museums and galleries to interest everyone, as will the traditional Viennese coffee houses. Our guided sightseeing tour (optional) begins by coach, where we are taken along the Imperial Boulevard known as the Ringstrasse. We see the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament Building, the Opera House, National Theatre and City Hall. During our tour, we also see the majestic Danube River, and later as we pass by the Prater amusement park, a chance to view the famous ‘Giant Wheel’, built over 100 years ago, and today one of the most wellknown landmarks of the city. B,D
DAY 7: Prague (included).
The city of Prague is affectionately known as the ‘Golden Town’ on account of its historic architecture including cathedrals, gold tipped towers, church domes and numerous bridges which span the majestic Vltava River. It’s modern façade offers exciting shopping and bustling city squares and an excellent selection of restaurants and cafés to sample the local specialities. Our guided walking tour (optional) introduces the splendid architecture of Prague Old Town, the world’s largest UNESCO monument. We learn about the city’s long rich history and see highlights including the ‘Astronomical Clock’, Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square, as well as the charming hidden corners of this beautiful city centre. Lasting for approximately two hours, our optional cruise, during which a commentary will be provided, takes us along the majestic Moldau River, past spectacular views of the city. A buffet lunch will be served onboard with a selection of warm and cold Czech specialties. B,D
DAY 5: Salzburg (included )
One of the most beautiful cities in Austria. For an amazing view of the city and surrounding area, take the funicular up to the imposing Hohensalzburg Castle.
