Giant's of North Wales - Your Excursions
FULL DAY
This morning we head for the Menai Straits and cross over to visit Menai Bridge and view the world famous Menai Suspension Bridge before arriving in Llanfair PG or, to be more precise,Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll- llantysiliogogogh! We cross back to the mainland and on to Caernarfon, entering Wales’ most famous castle (admission included) via the King’s Gate and then taking a guided tour showcasing the breathtaking views of the Snowdonia mountain range and the Menai Straits. Our final visit of the day is to the village of Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon, Yr Wyddfa, at 3,560 feet the highest peak in Wales and England where we have included a fabulous trip up into the clouds onboard the Snowdon Mountain Railway (ticket included).
FULL DAY
This morning we visit Bodnant Gardens (admission included) the brainchild of Henry Pochin, who began planting the 80 acre development in 1874 and which today has culminated in one of the finest gardens in Wales. We then head for Llangollen on the banks of the River Dee where we board our boat for the journey across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the longest and highest cast iron aqueduct on Earth - the ‘River in the Sky’. Our drive home takes us via the cathedral city of St Asaph to visit Britain’s smallest cathedral. Here lie the remains of Bishop William Morgan, Saviour of the Welsh language, who translated The Bible from English and thus helping to persuade the Welsh people to embrace the Protestant faith of Queen Elizabeth I.
