Fishguard has an enviable location overlooking the tranquillity of Fishguard Bay and set at the
gateway to the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It was also the last place in Britain
to be invaded in the late 18th Century, as well as the scene of the film version of Dylan Thomas's
famous 'Under Milk Wood'. Divided into an upper and lower town it still has a thriving centre and
bustling port and is the perfect base to discover the natural beauty and coastline of Pembrokeshire. |

FULL DAY A full day tour through the superb Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with its grand seacapes and rugged uplands, renowned worldwide for its prolific birdlife. We visit St David's, birthplace of the patron saint of Wales and the smallest 'city' in Britain, afforded the title by Queen Elizabeth II because of the presence of the Cathedral. We continue skirting the dramatic coastline to reach Tenby, a thriving seaside resort within the boundaries of the National Park. FULL DAY This morning we call at the beauty spot of Cenarth Falls, where the River Teifi cascades over a series of rocky ledges, before we reach the old town of Cardigan which has a delightful Welsh character. The River Teifi flows into Cardigan Bay in an idyllic setting beneath the cliff-top hamlet of Gwbert-on-Sea, from where we explore more of the unspoilt coastline, before returning through the Presili Hills, reputed to be the origin of the mammoth granite stones used to construct Stonehenge. turn of the century. |
