FULL DAY This morning we head for nearby Paignton, where we board our train on the former Great Western branch line, which takes us along the coast past Goodrington Sands and alongside the River Dart Estuary to Kingswear. Here we take the passenger ferry across the river to the seafaring port of Dartmouth, with its imposing Royal Naval College, to board our included river cruise. Sit back and enjoy the wonderful scenery - wooded slopes, secret creeks and enviable houses dotted along the banks of the River Dart. HALF DAY This morning we head towards Dartmoor National Park and skirting the edge we come to Buckfast Abbey, a modern monastic complex where monks welcome visitors and sell homemade products. |

Our hotel in Torquay is situated about ten minutes downhill walk, mainly via a private path, to the seafront. There is a sheltered garden, a sun terrace, and an indoor heated swimming pool, together with a games room, and a purpose-built venue for Skittles and Short Mat Bowls.
