Step back in time as we take a nostalgic journey aboard the North Yorkshire Steam Railway. From our base in the maritime town of Whitby, we are ideally placed to explore the medieval city of York and picturesque villages of the North Yorkshire Moors.

8 days by coach:
Full Day: Excursion taking in some of Yorkshire’s most spectacular scenery aboard the lovingly restored carriages of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. On then to Castle Howard. Set in 1000 acres of magnificent parkland this eighteenth century mansion is home to an enormous collection of world renowned treasures – the most loved of which is the famous Silver Swan.

Full Day: To York. This most historic city, dating back to Roman times, is bursting with history, medieval character and architectural masterpieces which are dominated by the magnificent Minster. In the tangle of cobbled streets inside the city walls you will find a fantastic mix of shops, traditional tea rooms and world class attractions.

Half Day: Jaunt across the North Yorkshire Moors to visit the pretty village of Thornton-le-Dale. A historic market town where you can admire a much photographed thatched cottage – one of a very few remaining in this area of Yorkshire.

5 days by coach:
Full Day: We board the lovingly restored carriages of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. This is the most popular heritage railway in the country and you will pass through some of Yorkshire’s most spectacular scenery on your delightful journey to Pickering. Along the way make sure you pay particular attention to Goathland Station – the ‘celebrity station’ of the railway. Aside from the Heartbeat connections this station also featured as Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films! On then to the charming and ancient market town of Helmsley where the remains of the Castle tower over the town. Take some time to roam the shops or watch the world go by from the tea rooms that flank the cobbled market square.

Half Day: Excursion exploring stunning ‘Heartbeat Country’ visiting areas featured in the popular TV series located in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. We call at picturesque Goathland – which is the setting of Aidensfield where you will come across many of the familiar landmarks from the series – including the store, the garage and the Aidensfield Arms public house.
