The Isle of Arran
Tour Highlights
|
![]() |
This wonderful journey through the best of Scotland and Ireland is jam-packed with scenic surprises
and contrasting landscapes. Our base is the proud Ayrshire coastal town of Irvine, and it's perfectly
placed for touring. We take the ferry to Ireland, for a tour to the world famous Giants Causeway, we
cross the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, known as 'Scotland in miniature', and we take in Loch
Lomond and the Trossachs National Park too, as well as a visit to the fine city of Glasgow! |
| Itinerary |
FULL DAY To nearby Troon and the morning ferry to Larne in Ireland, before we head into the far north to the Causeway Coast and its most visited attraction, the Giants Causeway. This honeycomb of almost 40,000 hexagonal columns is explained in detail at the visitor centre, and is absolutely fascinating. We return on the evening ferry crossing to Cairnryan and then take the coastal road to Irvine arriving back at the hotel late. FULL DAY Along the coast to Ardrossan for our sailing to Brodick, the capital of the Isle of Arran. We take a circular tour on the only main road, experiencing the meadowland, beaches and bays of the south, which contrast with the mini-Highland granite peaks of the north. Time is allowed in Brodick to explore at leisure. FULL DAY This morning we head north for a scenic full day excursion of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. We visit the pretty village of Luss, by the banks of Loch Lomond, before making our way into the heart of the Trossachs to Loch Katrine and the popular tourist centre of Aberfoyle. HALF DAY An extended half day excursion today to Scotland's second capital, Glasgow. Much of the beauty of this city had disappeared under years of smoke and grime until modern times which has seen a renaissance as the city has been restored to much of its Victorian elegance and revolutionary Art Nouveau. |
