Fairy-tale
Denmark - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
UK to Holland To
Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais, from where we continue
to our overnight hotel in Holland.
DAY 5 & 6: Copenhagen Enjoy a delightful guided
tour of Copenhagen to see the main sights and make yourself
familiar with this wonderful city. Built on water, with a
network of canals and islands, the compact center is easily
explored and has a multitude of sights and attractions for
young and old. Wander through the colourful harbour area of
Nyhavn for a quiet drink in one of the many canal side cafes;
take a stroll down ‘Strøget’, the largely pedestrianised main
shopping street, where you’ll find bars, cafes, restaurants
and a variety of shops. Explore the Amalienborg Castle, home
of the Danish Royal Family, and enjoy the impressive ‘Changing
of The Guard’, that’s performed every day throughout summer.
See the Little Mermaid, the best-known emblem of the city,
attracting millions of visitors from all over the world, and
the spectacular Gefion Fountain. We highly recommend a cruise,
as some of the city’s sights are much better appreciated from
the various canals running through the city centre. For lunch
try the typical Danish ‘smørrebrød’, slices of rye bread heaped
with meat or fish and trimmings - a beer and a ‘Snaps’ shouldn’t
be missed either! (B,D)
DAY 2: Holland to Flensburg Across the
border into Germany and on to the border town of Flensburg
for an overnight at the Mercure (3*). (B,D)
DAY 3: Flensburg to Odense Crossing the border into
Denmark this morning we head for the island of Fyn and its
largest town, Odense, where we spend the night at the Clarion
Collection Plaza (4*). (B,D)
DAY 7:
Copenhagen to Bremen We journey
southwards to Rødbyhavn for the ferry to Puttgarden in Germany.
Then along to Bremen and the hotel Ramada (3*) for dinner
and an overnight stay. (B,D)
DAY 4: Odense to Copenhagen Enjoy a guided tour of
Odense this morning, one of the oldest settlements, named
after the Odin the God. The town is famous for its connection
with Hans Christian Andersen, being his birthplace, and throughout
the town you will find many references to this. In the afternoon
we continue eastwards to the Danish capital, Copenhagen, where
we spend the next three nights at the Comfort Europe (3*)
in the city centre. Dinners are taken at the Brasserie Globen
next door. (B,D)
DAY 8: Bremen to N. France Through Holland and Belgium
before spending the final night of our holiday in Northern
France. (B,D)
DAY 9: N. France to UK To Calais, across to Dover
and then home. (B)
