| North Western Highlands & the Outer Hebrides 8 Day Coach Holidays - 7% Discount Tour Highlights Remote seascapes of Wester Ross, Gairloch, Skye Bridge, Portree, Train ride on the famous 'Kyle Line', Shin Falls, Lairg |

The breathtaking scenery of Wester Ross is reminiscent of the Norwegian fjords, with dramatic
mountain peaks and majestic lochs that bite into the coastline. Ullapool developed as a trading post
for the Outer Hebrides, and enjoys an idyllic setting near the mouth of Loch Broom. The village has
retained its timeless, peaceful quality - street signs are in both Gaelic and English, fishermen land
their rich harvest in the picturesque harbour, and the friendliness of the local people is matched only
by the serenity and unspoiled beauty of the surrounding area. And new for 2012 a fantastic day trip
to the Outer Hebrides. |
| Itinerary |
SUNDAY From local departure points we head towards our overnight stop in the north of England. MONDAY After an early start we cross the border and head towards the far North to reach Ullapool, our base for the next five nights. TUESDAY A day to relax and enjoy the idyllic village of Ullapool on the banks of Loch Broom. WEDNESDAY The highlight of the holiday today as we board the morning ferry to Stornaway, the capital of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. We visit the 5000 year old Standing Stones of Callanish, in a wild setting by Loch Roag, and the Arnol Blackhouse Museum (admission included), depicting the old crofting way of life, before returning to Stornaway with free time to explore at leisure. We rejoin our ferry this evening for our return to Ullapool (no dinner included on this evening). THURSDAY A very scenic extended half day excursion by the remote Destitution Road, lonely bays and empty beaches to reach the little tourist centre of Gairloch, looking over the sea to Skye and the magnificent views alongside Loch Maree. We return via Inverewe Gardens (admission included), a horticultural oasis in the North Western Highlands. FRIDAY A full day tour today through bleak and beautiful Sutherland. We come to dramatic Shin Falls, before making our way via Lairg to Laxford Bridge, a Highland road offering stunning views of the mountains, lochs and wild moorland. Our breathtaking tour concludes with spectacular views of the mountains - Canisp, Quinag and Suliven - as we return to Ullapool. SATURDAY We head south to our final night in the north of England. SUNDAY Sadly our holiday draws to a close. |
