| Seville, Cordoba & Granada - Holiday Itinerary |
|
DAY 1: Fly to Malaga where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the Malaga/Torremolinos area for the night. D |
|
DAY 2: Ronda (included) The spectacularly situated village of Ronda was once the home of Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles. Perched high on a ridge over the El Tajo canyon and connected by three spectacular bridges above the sleepy Rio Guadalegin, Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly in the Old Town. Admire the whitewashed houses and old narrow streets, see the Plaza de Toros, the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain, and the beautiful Mondragon Palace. After we continue to Seville for a three-night stay. B,D |
| DAYS 3 - 4: 3-4 Seville (included); Seville
Sightseeing Tour (optional)
Two days in the capital of Andalucia with so much to see. Seville is more than a thousand years old. As an introduction to the city, why not join our optional half-day sightseeing tour with local English-speaking guide as we explore the Plaza de España, then the enormous Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, and the equally imposing Alcazar Royal Palace which dates from the 12th century and has incomparable gardens. We also walk through the quaint streets of the Jewish quarter, the Barrio Santa Cruz. For the rest of your time, relax and breathe in the unique atmosphere of this lovely city, enjoy the tapas bars, relax in the parks, or perhaps even enjoy a horse and carriage ride around the main sights. 2xB, 2xD |
DAY 5: Cordoba (included) Leaving Seville, we travel to the Roman city of Cordoba, home to the grandest mosque ever built by the Moors in Spain, the Mezquita. Join our included city tour. See, as well, the beautiful gardens of the Alcazar, or perhaps the Plaza del Potro, mentioned in ‘Don Quixote’ and the imposing Plaza de la Corredera, once the site of a Roman amphitheatre and the burnings of the Inquisition. Cordoba was once the largest city in Europe and its incredible history is represented by the beautifully preserved buildings and squares. We continue onwards to Granada for a two-night stay. B,D |
DAY 6: Granada (included) and the
Alhambra (included) The old city of Granada is a delight to explore, but the highlight of our included guided tour is the vast palace which dominates the skyline with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. The peaks of the Sierra Nevada are dusted with snow most of the year round. The world-famous Alhambra Palace (entrance included) with its grand red walls, started in the 11th century, is the ‘must see’ in Andalucia. See Nasrid Palace, the Fortress, Charles V Palace and Medina, as well as the Generalife Gardens and Palace. Later, spend some free time in Granada. The city was the last stronghold of the Moors, before they were expelled from Spain in 1492. B,D |
