Cruising on France’s River Rhône

7 Days - 7.5% Discount

Cruise in style along France’s grand River Rhône whilst exploring the picturesque Provence and Camargue

Cruising on France’s River Rhône - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
We travel to northern France for an overnight stay.
DAY 2:
South to Lyon, where we board our cruise ship. Meet the crew during a welcome cocktail reception before dinner. Evening of entertainment. Cruise overnight. (B,D)
DAY 3:
Enjoy breakfast cruising on past Valence, Montelimar and through the great lock in Bollène, one of the masterpieces of the 1950s, rising to nearly 60 feet. Lunch on board before reaching Avignon. Join our optional sightseeing drive to the Camargue, a huge plain famous for its seas and marshlands, and visit Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Dinner on board in Arles, then join an optional guided tour of the city, which is virtually an open-air museum. (B,L,D)
DAY 4:
Arrive Avignon at approx. 9am, then join our tour of the ‘City of Popes’ and see the famous bridge, the Pont d’Avignon, of popular folk-song fame. Avignon is a delight, surrounded by ramparts and perched on a rock over the river. Lunch on board and then cruise south (relax on the sun deck and enjoy the tranquil scenery) to Viviers with dinner on board. Why not join our optional walking tour of this listed medieval town? (B,L,D)
DAY 5:
Relax on board or enjoy our optional excursion to the Gorges of the Ardeche, crossing the Gras Plateau to Vallon Pont d’Arc. Here, the Ardeche River carved out a cliff forming a splendid 100ft high natural archway called the Pont d’Arc. The itinerary continues along the meandering gorges of the Ardeche River offering many striking viewpoints. Enjoy a tasting of the famous Côtes du Rhône wines on our final afternoon (optional). We moor overnight in Tain L’Hermitage. Gala evening on board ship.
(B,L,D)
DAY 6:
We cruise to Lyon, where we disembark. Head north by coach to the Paris area for overnight. (B)
DAY 7:
Homeward bound via Calais. (B)
Included Meals: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner

Please Note – For navigational reasons and passenger safety, the captain on board reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary if necessary. Also at some ports of call, a degree of walking may be involved to join our coach. Due to limited docking facilities, it may be necessary to dock alongside another ship, via which you can gain access to the shore.
If an excursion means that you are away from the ship at lunch time, a packed lunch will be provided.
