The ships combine
tradition, elegance and style with modern amenities, top class service,
friendliness and a wide variety of cruise destinations. It is this combination
that has earned Fred. Olsen the reputation of being one of the best loved
cruise lines in Britain, and the reason why so many passengers return to the
line again and again. For most of
the year both ships are based in Dover and Southampton on the south coast of
England which means an easy journey by road or rail to the cruise terminal. On
long cruises, those of three weeks or more, there is very often the option of
enjoying just a portion of the cruise by joining and/or leaving the ship by
air. This is especially attractive for those with only limited holiday time
available to them.
Black
Prince and Black Watch - different ships and different cruise
experiences but both maintaining the Fred. Olsen tradition of friendly
atmosphere and gracious living that has become the companies
trademark.

All passenger cabins
and suites have private facilities, air conditioning and TV for films, news
channel, and ship and port information. Accommodation ranges from cabins
designed specifically for single passengers to cabins for twin, triple and quad
occupancy, up to suites with separate lounge areas (and private balconies on
Black Watch).

Black Prince, smaller of the two ships carrying just 450
passengers, operates year round from Dover and Southampton to the popular
cruise destinations of Europe - the Mediterranean, Norwegian fjords and North
Cape, The Baltic and the Canary Islands. Cruises lasting between 8 nights and
18 nights are the norm. From time to time, Black Prince will set out on
a more lengthy cruise - possibly across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and South
America and back to the UK, and early in 2002 she will reposition to the
Caribbean for a short series of cruises using the Cuban capital of Havana as
her turnaround port.
The Black Prince has three restaurants; the Fleur de Lys and
Royal Garter offering a formal style of eating, and the Balblom situated at the
top of the ship offering an informal atmosphere in conservatory style
surroundings. In addition, there is a variety of bars and lounges which, by
day, are the setting for fun and games, lectures or demonstrations, and which
by night provide the backdrop for the nightly Showtime entertainment, or a
peaceful corner for a pre or post dinner drink. Theres an indoor fitness
centre with heated pool and gym equipment, as well as an outdoor pool for when
cruising in warm sunny climes. Theres even a water sports centre offering
sailing and water-skiing. And of course there are facilities for the essential
traditional deck sports like quoits, shuffleboard and giant chess!
The 760
passenger Black Watch, with her stylish and elegant profile brings back
an almost forgotten era of grand cruising. Broad, polished teak decks, generous
promenades, bright and spacious public areas, all contribute to the Black
Watch flair for creating an easygoing sense of well-being throughout the
cruise. Variety and choice are the norm. Start with dining for instance.
Theres the elegant Glentanar Restaurant or intimate Orchid Room for
formal dining. Or the bright and airy Garden Cafe for an informal atmosphere.
And if its eating in the open air that appeals, why not enjoy a snack at the
Poolside Cafe or Marquee Pool Bar. The contrasting venues of the nautically themed Lido Lounge and
popular Scottish Pipers Bar provide a congenial setting to linger over a
leisurely drink, or you can seek out a quiet corner in the Braemar Lounge or
spectacular Observatory Lounge with its panoramic views. And with two pools,
superb fitness centre, health and beauty salon, deck sports, casino, cabaret
shows and dancing, classical music and bridge playing classes - there is more
than enough entertainment and activities to fill days and nights on even the
longest cruise! ASHORE
Once in port, the excitement carries
on. In every port of call there is a selection of shore tours to help
passengers enjoy their time ashore or the option of just doing your own
thing.
FLY/CRUISESFred. Olsen
understands that everyone who would like to cruise with us cannot always be on
board for three or four weeks - or even longer. So, on these long cruises there
is the option of taking only a part of it and flying between the UK and the
ship. |
