Treasures - Tour Itinerary
DAY 1:
UK to Cairo Fly from the UK to Cairo
where you will be met at the airport and transferred to the
hotel Le Meridien (5*) in Cairo, our base for the next three
nights. Hotel facilities include various restaurants and bars,
pool, gym, shop hairdresser and beauty salon. All rooms with
private facilities and air conditioning.
DAY 5: Luxor to Esna Breakfast
on board ship then by coach to visit the Valley of the Kings,
a burial location that houses 62 tombs of the most famous
Pharaohs, like Tutankhamun. The burial tombs were literally
cut out of the rock, filled with gold and precious objects,
and some have more than a hundred chambers, with the walls
covered with inscriptions and decorations. Nearby you’ll
find The Valley of The Queens, housing more than 80 tombs.
We return to the ship where we enjoy lunch whilst cruising
to Esna, home to The Temple of Khnum, where we spend the night.
(B,L,D)
DAY 2: Cairo Included
entrance to the Egyptian Museum, one of the world’s
greatest collections of ancient antiquities, and an opportunity
to see three thousands years of Egyptian art. The upper floor
is devoted to treasures, which is where you find the 1.700
grave goods of Tutankhamun, from the solid gold masks to thrones,
headrests, exquisite boxes and a series of golden chariots.
Afternoon free to explore Cairo at leisure or enjoy the hotel
and its many facilities. (B,D)
DAY 6: Esna to Edfu & Kom Ombo Leisurely
cruising this morning towards Edfu where we dock for lunch.
Included visit to The Temple of Horus (the God of Power and
Protection), Egypt’s best preserved and complete temple
with columns and walls covered in hieroglyphs, detailing offerings
to the gods. Enjoy afternoon tea whilst cruising to Kom Ombo,
our next port of call. (B,L,D)
DAY 3: Gyza Pyramids & Sphinx Our included
excursion takes us just south of Cairo’s suburbs to
admire the mighty Giza Pyramids. More than 80 pyramids line
the west bank of the Nile in this part of Egypt, but the three
large pyramids at Giza are by far the most impressive. Legend
has it that it took 100.00 men more than twenty years to build
one of them, The Great Pyramid of Cheops, which gives you
some idea about the scale of these architectural masterpieces.
Guarding this pyramid is the Sphinx, a massive statue cut
out of the rock, a figure shrouded in mystery, carrying a
lion’s body and a man’s head. (B,D)
DAY 7: Kom Ombo to Aswan Situated
on a dune above a bend in the Nile you’ll find the Kom
Ombo Temple, built to honour two gods, Sobek, the crocodile
god of Nile fertility, and Horus The Elder, known as ‘The
Good Doctor’. On some of the temple walls you’ll
see an interesting display of medical instruments, evidence
that ancient Egyptian surgeons performed highly complicated
operations. We cruise to Aswan and have lunch on board before
an included visit to the High Dam, the Temple of Philae and
the Unfinished Obelisk. Scholars identified Philae Temple
as ‘The Pearl of The Nile, due to its dramatic location
on an island. Included ‘Felucca’ sailing on the
Nile around Kitchener’s Island, covered in exotic plants
and trees from all over the world. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: Cairo to Luxor To the airport
this morning for our flight to Luxor. On arrival we will be
met and taken to our Nile cruise ship, the Mövenpick

lunch on board ship we include an excursion by coach to the
temples of Luxor and Karnak, which are amongst the world’s
most extraordinary religious sites, where for 1500 years the
priests offered prayers to the god Amun. This is by may considered
one of the Pharaonic Egypt’s grandest monuments, and
was partially built by Ramses II, one of Egypt’s most
mythical Pharaohs. (B,L,D)

the cruise ship for the airport and our flight back to Cairo.
