Germany
is home to some of
the most stunning, fairytale castles in Europe
Heidelberg
Castle, only partially rebuilt after its destruction in
the 17th Century overlooks and dominates the town. Our local
guide will detail its history. You will have time at leisure
in Heidelberg. Marksberg Castle – crowning the hill above
the town of Braubach, dates back to the 12th century and
is the only Rhine Castle never to be destroyed. Cochem Castle
dates back over 1000 years, and is perched high over the
bends of the Mosel River and the town of Cochem. The Castle
has seen many changes since being seized by the German Emperor
in 1151 and later mortgaged to the Archbishop of Trier.
Today the Castle is owned by the Town of Cochem and is well
equipped with Renaissance and Baroque furniture.
No journey to this region would be complete without joining
our optional afternoon Rhine Cruise. As the River bends
you will experience panoramic views across the valley, vineyards,
Castles and the famous Lorelei Rock.

Your Hotel
You will stay for four
nights at a comfortable hotel, such as, or similar to, the
family-run Hotel Zur Alten Post, located in Bad Salzig near
Boppard. All hotels used have well-furnished en-suite bedrooms
as well as a comfortable bar and a restaurant in typical German
style décor. Continental breakfast and dinner will be included
throughout your stay, except no dinner on day one due to the
late arrival at your hotel.
