The Beautiful English Riviera - Your Excursions
FULL DAY
Into Cornwall today to reach Looe, a fishing port and holiday resort set astride the picturesque Looe River. There is a small sandy beach, and narrow crooked streets beside the riverside quays. In the afternoon to Devon’s premier city of Plymouth, which is a fascinating combination of modern shopping streets, an old Elizabethan district called the Barbican, and the grassy esplanade of The Hoe, which has panoramic views of Plymouth Sound towards the sea.
FULL DAY
Our full day tour begins with the drive to Exeter. This historic city lays claim to being one of the oldest cities in England, founded by the Romans some 2,000 years ago. There is plenty of time during our visit to explore the many museums, the excellent shopping centre, the magnificent cathedral, or just to wander through the winding lanes. In the afternoon we follow the River Exe to the charming resort of Dawlish, famous for its lovely 19th century ‘Lawn’. Our final visit is lovely Teignmouth, with its two miles of seafront promenade.
HALF DAY
To the once prosperous port town of Dartmouth, a town whose naval tradition goes back to medieval times when the port was one of the busiest in England. Nowadays the harbour is filled with yachts and pleasure boats, with appealing streets winding down to the Dart Estuary.
