Welsh Experience - Holiday Itinerary
MONDAY
From local joining points we travel to mid-Wales and the Glen Usk Hotel. After a warm welcome, enjoy a pre-dinner drink of mulled wine in the Lounge Bar. Following dinner, you can listen to a short introductory talk about how the spa town of Llandrindod Wells developed and its Victorian hey-day.
TUESDAY
A full day tour takes us through the mountains to the seaside resort of Aberystwyth, which has an impressive promenade, two beaches, a ruined castle and an important university where Prince Charles once studied. In the afternoon it’s all aboard the Vale of Rheidol Railway, one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, (fare included) as the narrow gauge steam railway climbs up the valley to the beauty spot of Devil's Bridge, where we rejoin our coach.
WEDNESDAY
A day at leisure at Llandrindod Wells. The town is located on the scenic Heart of Wales railway, which accelerated the growth of the area's spa towns, and has a restored Pump Room in Rock Park, a pretty lake, and a series of local circular walks. In the evening look forward to the Welsh Gala Dinner, including a glass of Welsh wine, followed by the uplifting sound of a live Welsh Choir.
THURSDAY
Morning excursion to the Elan Valley, where you can see a series of reservoirs in a spectacular scenic setting. The visitor centre has an exhibit of the water scheme, showing photographs of houses drowned when the reservoirs were built. We call at nearby Rhayader, with the opportunity to visit the Royal Welsh Crystal Factory.
FRIDAY
Return home with memories of your Welsh Experience.
