- Your Excursions
FULL
DAY We
head for Masham, gateway to Wensleydale, for a tour of the
Black Sheep Brewery (admission included) - including a glass
of the renowned beer! Then it’s deep into the Yorkshire Dales
to visit Hawes Creamery (admission included), to see how the
famous Wensleydale Cheese is made, before returning through
scenic Ribblesdale and lovely Wharfedale.
FULL DAY Our full
day excursion takes us to Holmfirth and the Holme Valley,
setting for TV’s long-running ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ series.
Discover ‘Sid’s Café’, ‘Norah Batty’s house’, and The Last
of the Summer Wine exhibition in ‘Compo’s’ former home! Then
it’s on through the nearby Colne Valley and ‘Skelthwaite’,
location of ‘Where the Heart is’, to Calderdale and Hebden
Bridge, where a leisurely cruise by barge on the Rochdale
Canal is included.
FULL DAY The day is reserved for a
visit to York, without doubt one of
our favourite tourist cities.There will
be ample time for sightseeing and
shopping, but there is so much to
see, you will have to be selective.
The majestic Minster is the main
attraction, whilst a stroll around the
old Roman walls will give you a
unique view of the city. Explore the
Shambles, a narrow alleyway chock
full of tempting shops, and discover
fabulous museums such as the
Jorvik Centre and National Railway
Museum.
