SUNDAY From local departure points we head northward to our overnight stop. MONDAY Crossing the border we make our way to Blair Atholl and our hotel for five nights. TUESDAY At leisure - explore the pretty little village, and a visit to famous Blair Castle is well recommended. WENDESDAY A half day excursion including a guided tour of Scotland's smallest distillery at Edradour. There is also time for sightseeing in the tourist centre of Pitlochry with its famous Salmon Ladder. THURSDAY A full day tour as we climb into the Cairngorm Mountains. We drive along Glen Garry to the Pass of Drumochter with its magnificent views of the Cairngorms, rising dramatically in the distance. We continue to Aviemore in the heart of the National Park before visiting Inverness - the so-called capital of the Highlands which lies on the fabled shores of Loch Ness. FRIDAY An absorbing full day tour of the Grampian Mountains and the spectacular West Highlands. We descend Glen Spean to Spean Bridge, then by the slopes of Ben Nevis we reach the busy Highland town of Fort William. Our return is by spectacular Glencoe, remote Rannoch Moor and lovely Loch Tay. SATURDAY Heading south we skirt Edinburgh and cross into England for our final overnight stay. SUNDAY Sadly we return for home. |
