DAY 1:
UK to Liege To Belgium
for our overnight stay.
DAY 9: St. Gilgen to Liege We return to Belgium for
our overnight stay. (B,D)
DAY 2: Liege to St. Gilgen We travel to Austria’s lake district and our resort
of St Gilgen, settling into the hotel of your choice
for a seven-night stay. (B,D)
DAY 10: Liege to UK To Calais for the ferry
to Dover and home. (B)
DAYS 3 to 8: St. Gilgen At leisure in St Gilgen,
with time to enjoy the local hospitality and spectacular scenery
of the ‘Salzkammergut’ or Austrian lakes region.
The village offers a variety of quaint shops, bars, restaurants

Days: St Wolfgang & Schafberg Railway The enchanting
resort of St Wolfgang is world-renowned for its beautiful
15th-century church. Its traditional centre is packed with
cobbled streets, lined with attractive frescoed houses and
a great selection of shops and cafés, with superb views from
their lakeside terraces. We enjoy a nostalgic ride aboard
the rack-and-pinion Schafberg Railway up the mountain for
some of the most stunning views in the Austrian Lake District
or ‘Salzkammergut’ region.
Full Day: Salzburg Join us for a visit to this marvellous city of
music, made famous by Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart. Stroll down the quaint Getreidegasse
street to see the house where he was born,
relax in the pretty floral Mirabell Gardens or
take the funicular railway up to the imposing
Hohensalzburg fortress. The old town boasts a
number of impressive buildings including the
town hall, cathedral and the Residenz, once
home to Salzburg’s archbishops.
Half Day: Mondsee
A picturesque lakeside town, home to the
church that featured in the wedding scene of
‘The Sound of Music’. The pretty marketplace
is filled with pastel-painted Baroque houses
and offers a wide selection of cafés.
Alternatively, enjoy a stroll along the
lakeshore, taking in the views of boats and
windsurfers from the promenade.
The Jodlerwirt offers a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere and is owned by musician Werner
Frisch, who organises regular entertainment. Just across the
road from the lake and about
10 minutes’ walk to the village centre, the hotel is
well situated in St Gilgen, where you can enjoy the gentle
lakeside promenade and splendid views. • All rooms with
