DAY 1: From Home to Dublin Fly direct from your chosen airport to Dublin. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to The Brennan Green Isle Hotel where we stay tonight, a lovely hotel on the outskirts of the city. DAY 2: Dublin to Westport via the Cruachan Ai Visitor Centre After some time in Dublin this morning, we begin our travels westward, calling at the Cruachan Ai Heritage Centre, where we have a fascinating insight into one of the 'Celtic Royal Sites' of Ireland on our guided tour. We continue on to arrive at the lovely resort of Westport, where we stay for four nights at the delightful Westport Woods Hotel, set in woodlands, located between the town centre and the quay. The hotel also has entertainment on each evening during our stay. DAY 3: Achill Island and Hennigan's Heritage A lovely day ahead, as we journey around scenic Clew Bay and across the Corraun Peninsula and Achill Sound to reach tranquil Achill Island. We return past Lough Conn to visit Hennigan's Heritage Centre, which is a treat indeed! Led by Tom Hennigan, we enjoy a tour around the traditional cottage, learning all about rural life in County Mayo and also enjoy music, dancing and refreshments! DAY 4: A day at leisure in Westport Today we have chance to relax and explore the welcoming heritage town of Westport. Enjoy your hotel leisure centre and surroundings or venture out to see some of the local attractions, including nearby Westport House & Gardens. Tonight, our hotel hosts a wonderful Irish night, with traditional music and dancing. DAY 5: Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey Heading south, we call at stunning Kylemore Abbey, an extraordinary abbey in a beautiful setting overlooking Kylemore Lake. We learn of the remarkable and moving stories which have marked the history of the site, and have the chance to explore the abbey, gothic church, walled gardens and pleasant walks. We continue on into the beautiful Connemara National Park, an area of nearly 5,000 acres of scenic countryside, located on the slopes of the Twelve Bens mountain range. DAY 6: From Westport to Dublin via Galway Sadly, we depart Westport this morning, but first we call at the wonderful medieval city of Galway. Known as 'The City of The Tribes', Galway is a lively and picturesque city, set at the mount of Galway Bay. We continue then across country back to Dublin, where we stay for our final night at the Clarion Liffey Valley hotel. DAY 7: From Dublin back to home After a wonderful break discovering some of the delights of Western Ireland, our driver will advise details of your return transfer time to Dublin airport today, and we wish you a safe flight home. |
