Italian Riviera
& Sardinia - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
Depart UK To Dover
for the crossing to Calais, and then on to our overnight hotel
in Northern France.
DAY 8:
Alghero In the morning,
why not join an optional walking tour of Alghero, to discover
more about this fascinating town. The town is surrounded by
the crystal clear sea, there is a pretty marina, and in each
direction you can admire the unspoilt Sardinian coastline.
The centre of the resort is a delight to discover, with small
streets and alleys giving way to pretty squares, leading out
to a beautiful promenade along the seafront. (B,D)
DAY 2: N. France to Lyon South in
to France, through changing scenery, and on to our overnight
stop in the historic city of Lyon, and the Hotel Lyon Est
(3*). (B,D)
DAY 9: Alghero A day at leisure in resort
today, or join the optional excursion northwards along the
very scenic coast, and to the beautiful town of Castelsardo.
(B,D)
DAY 3: Lyon to Rapallo Leaving Lyon after breakfast,
we head over the border in to Italy, and to our resort for
the next four nights, Rapallo, which is set beautifully on
a sweeping bay lapped by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.
We stay at the stunning Hotel Europa (4*), which is situated
close to the sea front and resort centre. (B,D)
DAY 10: Bosa South of Alghero along
the scenic coast road, to Bosa, a beautiful town that lies
in the middle of untouched coastline. The old quarter retains
a historic air, with a 19th century cathedral dominated by
a huge belltower, and a castle sat above the town on the hillside.
(B,D)
DAY 4: Rapallo A day at leisure in Rapallo.
Why not join our optional excursion to the stunning ‘Cinque
Terre’, a series of five villages that literally cling
to the coastline on impossibly narrow inlets. The villages
remain unspoilt, and truly offer an insight to how life used
to be. Journey between the villages by train from La Spezia
station, the most pleasant way to visit the villages. On our
return journey, we call in to the most attractive town,
Portovenere. (B,D)
DAY 11: Alghero to Costa Smeralda to
Olbia Departing
Alghero, we head to the famous Costa Smeralda on the North
East coast of the island, before heading to Olbia in the evening,
where we enjoy dinner in a local restaraunt before catching
our overnight ferry back to the mainland. Accommoadtion will
be provided in cabins with en suite facilities. Please note
that in many cabins accommodation is in the form of bunks.
(B,D)
DAY 5: Pisa & Lucca Today we travel in to Tuscany,
to Pisa with its breathtaking leaning tower and Square of
Miracles, continuing to Lucca, a city of great atmosphere
and beauty, and certainly less hectic than many of its more
famous neighbours. (B,D)
DAY 12: Livorno to Weil am Rhein Arriving back on to the
mainland in the early morning, we begin to retrace our steps
northwards, heading out of Italy, past the Alps, and to Weil
am Rhein to the Hotel Atlas for dinner and our overnight stay
(3*). (B,D)
DAY 6: Portofino Take advantage of your
included ferry ticket to the famously beautiful Portofino,
playground to the rich and famous. The ferry service leaves
directly from Rapallo harbour, passing some of the stunning
yachts that litter the harbour. Once in Portofino itself,
you can explore the labyrinth of delightful alleys, the expensive
boutiques, or perhaps relax in one of the many pavement cafes
whilst admiring the view. (B,D)
DAY 13: Weil am Rhein to N. France Continuing northwards in
to France, passing several wine producing regions, and to
Northern France for dinner and our overnight stay. (B,D)
DAY 7: Rapallo to Alghero, Sardinia With an early start in
order to catch the scheduled sailing, we leave the Italian
mainland behind, travelling to Livorno where we join our ferry
to make the crossing to Sardinia. Arriving in to Olbia, we
then head across to Alghero, a superbly pretty Spanish-influenced
town on the west coast of the island, where we will stay in
the Hotel Catalunya for the next four nights (4*). (B,D)
DAY 14: N. France to UK To Calais for the crossing
to Dover, and then home. (B)
