Oberammergau and the Splendour of Lake Garda - Itinerary
MONDAY: Depart
from one of our local joining points or take advantage of
our Door to Door service* and connect to your transfer service
to Dover. Here you meet your Silver Service luxury coach
and fellow travellers then sail to Calais. Onwards to our
4-star overnight stop hotel in Belgium.
TUESDAY - COLOGNE &
THE RHINE VALLEY: We leave
Belgium and head to the city of Cologne with its splendid
Gothic Cathedral with twin spires that dominate the skyline
view from the River Rhine. After some free time we continue
along the Rhine Valley with the opportunity for a relaxing
cruise along the river to enjoy the sedate scenery of the
vineyards and castles that adorn the Valley. We continue
to the Mannheim area for our overnight stay. B,D
WEDNESDAY
- HEIDELBERG: A morning
visit to the picturesque town of Heidelberg, which lies
on the River Neckar and is famed for its university, which
dates back to 1386, castle and Old Town-the ‘Altstadt’.
After lunch we head south to our accommodation in the Oberammergau
area with time to relax ahead of tomorrow’s spectacle. B,D
THURSDAY
- OBERAMMERGAU: Enjoy
a relaxing morning in the environs of Oberammergau. Lunch
is taken at noon before the start of the Passion Play at
2.30pm. After a break for dinner between 5pm and 8pm the
Play ends at 10.30pm. Transfer back to your accommodation.

FRIDAY - INNSBRUCK: We leave after breakfast and head for the
splendours of Lake Garda. En route to Lake Garda we call
into Austria’s Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. Surrounded
by steep mountains the city’s location is most impressive.
Perhaps the most notable landmark is the Golden Roof from
where the Emperor Maximilian 1 used to watch the events
in the square below. Leaving Innsbruck we travel over the
spectacular Brenner Pass into Italy to our hotel in Lake
Garda for a five night stay. B,D
SATURDAY
- LAKE GARDA: A leisurely
morning followed by an included excursion to a local wine
Cantina to taste the local Veneto produce. This evening
you can enjoy an optional cruise across the lake to the
pretty shore-side village of Limone. B,D
SUNDAY - VERONA: Today
we include a visit to the charming city of Verona. Famed
as the home of Romeo and Juliet, it also boasts the impressive
amphitheatre where the opera festival takes place each year.
The many charms of Verona will be brought to life on our
optional walking tour with a local guide who will reveal
many fascinating stories behind the buildings and personalities
of this fine historic town. B,D
MONDAY - VENICE: No time
in this part of Italy is complete without a visit to Venice.
Join our optional excursion to this city of canals, gondolas
and palaces. Enjoy the famous sights including the Bridge
of Sighs, St Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace. For a
different view over St Mark’s Square enjoy our optional
Lagoon Cruise as we sail past Guidecca Island and Venice’s
Lido resort made famous by the International Film Festival.

TUESDAY - VILLAGES OF
LAKE GARDA: It’s our
final day in Lake Garda and there’s so much to see and do
around the lake. Our optional sightseeing tour will stop
at some of the most picturesque villages including Sirmione
from where we take a boat across the lake passing the private
island of Garda. B,D
WEDNESDAY: We leave
after breakfast and enjoy a leisurely drive through the
Alps to the Lucerne area in Switzerland for an overnight
stay. B,D
THURSDAY: We head
north crossing the French border arriving at our overnight
hotel in northern France this evening. B
FRIDAY: We travel
on to Calais for our return crossing to the U.K. and then
continue on our transfer service to your chosen local drop
off point or if you selected our Door to Door service to
your front door*. B

Your Hotel
in Lake Garda - The Hotel Royal
You’ll stay for five nights
at the 3-star Hotel Royal in Riva del Garda, only 250 metres
from the lake, and a 10-15 minute walk along the lakeside
from Riva. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, lift, outdoor
swimming pool and sun terrace and all meals are buffet-style.
All bedrooms have T.V. and telephone.
En route overnight stays will be with buffet breakfast in
a 4-star hotel in Belgium, city style hotel in northern France
and central Germany and tourist style hotel in Switzerland.
Please note: on some occasions hotels of a similar standard
in resorts such as Riva, Torbole and Malcesine may be used.

PASSION PLAY ACCOMMODATION
ARRANGEMENTS:
Tickets for the 2010 Passion
Play are only available as part of an official package. All
our holidays except the 7 day Bavarian Castles* itinerary
include accommodation for two nights in either Oberammergau
itself or the surrounding villages so you can arrive in Oberammergau
in good time the night before the play and afterwards have
time to reflect on the spectacle you have witnessed. Dinner
is included each night plus lunch before the Play commences.
*The 7 day Bavarian Castles itinerary, includes accommodation
in the Oberammergau area for one night on the night of the
performance and so you will travel to Oberammergau on the
morning of the play from our hotel base in Reutte, which is
about 11.2 hours away, arriving in time for lunch ahead of
the play.

Accommodation in Oberammergau
has been graded by the Passion Play committee according to
the facilities available. For all holidays prices are based
upon accommodation in category PC3 in the Oberammergau area.
You can choose to upgrade your accommodation in Oberammergau
subject to availability.
