fellow travellers over dinner. (D)
DAY 5: Palma Lunchtime
arrival on the wonderful island of Majorca. Plenty of time
to stroll along the palmlined seafront promenade with its

Baths and the Bellver Castle. You could also visit the pleasant
town of Valldemossa, of Chopin fame, the Lluc Monastery, housing
the Black Virgin, or the Dragon Caves on the island’s
east coast. We leave the island again at midnight and cruise
towards the Spanish mainland and the region of Catalonia.

DAY 2: Naples We arrive
in the charming city of Naples, capital of the region. The
opportunity to join an optional city tour or to explore at
leisure, or maybe a scenic drive along the Amalfi coast, Europe’s
most beautiful stretch of road to admire the stunning views.
You might prefer a boat trip to the enchanting island of Capri
where the mild climate and colourful vegetation have attracted
visitors for many years. Capri town itself offers the famous
‘Piazetta’ and an array of bustling lanes, crammed
with exclusive boutiques. Popular attractions include the
Blue Grotto and the chairlift up Monte Solaro to take in the

day in the Catalonian capital, arriving this morning at 09.00

long leafy avenues of the ‘Ramblas’, packed with
cafes, shops and restaurants. Take the long outdoor escalators
up the Montjuic to see some of the 1992 Olympic installations.(B,L,D)
DAY 3: Palermo The largest island in
the Mediterranean, Sicily, is our next port of call, and we
arrive in Palermo at 08.00 this morning. Set in its own wide
bay beneath the limestone bulk of Mount Pellegrino this remarkable
city has a near perfect location. Don’t miss the excursion
to Mount Etna, one of the world’s biggest active volcanoes.

day, another country, as we arrive in Marseilles, a cosmopolitan
port city, with its own peculiar magnetism. Why not join the

An immaculate preserved town with its centre enclosed by medieval
walls, built by one of the nine popes who based themselves
here throughout most of the fourteenth century. We leave again
at 19.00 and head for Genoa. (B,L,D)
