Back roads - Tour Itinerary
DAY 1:
UK to Boston Fly
to Boston where you’ll be met and transferred to either
the Doubletree Guest Suites, Boston or Sheraton Newton, Newton
for an overnight stay.
DAY 5: Burlington to Stowe and Lincoln Watch apples
transform into cider with a trip to the Cold Hollow Cider
Mill before enjoying a tour of Ben & Jerry’s Ice
Cream Factory. Next, enjoy a short visit to Stowe where you
will have time to shop. You then journey through the lovely
New England countryside to New Hampshire, your home for the
next two nights where you will stay at The Mountain Club,
Loon or The River Green Resort Hotel, Lincoln. (B, D)
DAY 2: Boston to Stratton An included sightseeing
tour of Boston, the city where the idea of American independence
was born. Admire historic sights, such as the Old South Meeting
House, the Public Gardens, the Old North Church, Beacon Hill,
and the U.S.S. Constitution. Later, stop at the famed Faneuil
Hall and Quincy Market, a lively concourse of boutiques, food
shops, restaurants and pavement cafes. We then depart for
Vermont, known as ‘The Green Mountain State.’
En route, you will pass traditional white steeple churches,
quaint villages and tree covered mountainsides. Stay for two
nights in Vermont at the Grand Summit, Mount Snow, the Hampton
Inn, Bennington or the Stratton Mountain Inn, Stratton. (B,

DAY 6: North Conway This morning
you depart for a full day of sightseeing in the scenic White
Mountains of New Hampshire. Take the scenic Kangamangus Highway
to North Conway, where you can stroll through the quaint village
or visit one of the many outlet stores located there before
returning to Lincoln. (B, D)
DAY 7: Bootbat Harbor, Maine Depart New
Hampshire for Maine, arriving in beautiful Boothbay Harbor
which is considered to be the boating capital of New England.
You will view the rugged coastline while on a scenic drive
along Ocean Point Road. This afternoon you may stroll through
this quaint town or perhaps take a delightful optional cruise
of Boothbay Harbor. Later tonight, join your fellow travellers
for a very special farewell lobster dinner. Overnight at the
Boothbay Harbour Inn, Boothbay Harbour or The Eastland Park,
Portland. (B, D)
DAY 3: Bennington Enjoy the
beauty of Vermont. Your first stop is the town of Bennington,
where you will see the gravesite of Robert Frost, one of America’s
best known poets, as well as the historic Bennington Battle
Monument, commemorating the American forces’ successful
battle against the British in 1777. Drive along the famed
Molly Stark Trail, named after the wife of General John Stark
who led the Battle of Bennington, following the route taken
by the troops in the victorious march home. The road winds
its way through lowland valleys, historic villages, busy downtowns
and the beautiful Green Mountains. This afternoon, visit one
of Vermont’s picturesque working farms that have opened
their doors to visitors from around the world. Enjoy a revolving
farm experience while learning about maple syrup, hand-spun
woollens, garden products and farm animals. (B)
DAY 8: Kennebunkport, Boston & Inflight Today you travel through
the seaside community of Kennebunkport, along spectacular
Ocean Drive. See former United States President George Bush’s
summer home before returning to Boston. The many pleasant
memories of your New England Back Roads adventure will last
a lifetime. Then transfer to Boston airport for your overnight
flight back to the UK. (B)
DAY 9: Arrive UK Arrive back in the UK.
DAY 4: Stratton to Burlington Journey
north toward Lake Champlain, stopping en route to visit the
exceptional Shelburne Museum. This museum showcases a complex
of 37 historic buildings that are home to vast collections
of fine and decorative art, paintings and folk sculptures.
Continue to Burlington and board a scenic cruise featuring
spectacular views of Lake Champlain and the surrounding Adirondack
Mountains. Overnight at the Hampton Inn, Burlington. (B, D)
