DAY 1: We travel
to Belgium for a four-night stay.
DAY 4: Passchendaele Anniversary Events
(included) The main commemorative events will take
place on 12 July, when the new visitors centre opens; the
main Remembrance Ceremony will take place at Tyne Cot Cemetery.
We attend these events, and others in the area, including
the special Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in the

DAY 2: Mine Warfare
- The Battle of Messine (included) We look
at the mine warfare of the Battle of Messines, seeing sites
and craters connected with the fighting in June 1917, also
attending any special exhibitions and events locally. B
DAY 3:
The Battle of Passchendaele (included) Today,
we follow the course of the Battle of Passchendaele, July
– November 1917, seeing preserved trenches, the new
Zonnebeke museum and also local events and exhibitions in
the Passchendaele or Ypres area (details to be confirmed).

DAY 5:
We travel
to Calais and then home. B
We also have a tour departing on 30 July
to coincide with the actual battle anniversary of 31 July.
The itinerary is as above, although the official Remembrance
Ceremonies will have already taken place, so we will see
the new Visitor’s Centre, together with any other events
or exhibitions. We will attend a special Last Post Ceremony
in the evening.

Your Hotel
We will stay for four nights
in the historic town of Lo, at the Hotel Oude Abdij which
translates as ‘Old Abbey’. This family-run 3-star
hotel has a spacious lounge area, bar, restaurant, large patio

9 July departures (5BBA) stays at the Novotel Ypres. The hotel
has a lift, bar, and restaurant. All bedrooms have a T.V.,

Hotel Alize located on the main square of Mouscron in Belgium.
