DAY 1: We travel
to the Rhine Valley for a four-night stay.
DAY 4:
Cochem & The Moselle Valley (optional, included on Silver
Service) We visit
Koblenz where the Moselle and Rhine rivers meet. We then
continue along the Moselle Valley to medieval Cochem and
its famous castle. We tour the cellars and sample the wine
at the House of Anton Hammes in Alken on our optional Moselle
Winetasting tour, which is also a popular treat. B,D
DAY 2: Rüdesheim (included) We visit this picturesque riverside ‘wine
town’, with its lively Drosselgasse, a narrow shopping
street lined with cafes and Rhineland bars. B,D
DAY 3:
Rhine
Valley (optional, included on Silver Service) We see
the mysterious Loreley Rock, the Rhine
Promenade in Boppard, and St. Goar, home to the world’s
largest cuckoo clock shop. Our optional river cruise
explores the scenery of the Rhine gorge, with lots of
fairytale castles and picturesque villages to photograph
along the way. B,D
DAY 5:
To Calais
for our return journey home. B

Your Hotel
You’ll stay for four
nights at the well-appointed 3-star Hotel Alte Bauernschänke
in charming Assmannshausen in the Rhine Valley. The hotel
is typically ‘Rhineland’ in style with an atmosphere
to match. There’s a lift, restaurant and large bar
area. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone and safe. We also
use the adjacent sister hotel, the Vis a Vis, or the Rheinhotel
Lamm. Both are
3-star hotels in Assmannshausen. Departures Jan 21 and Feb
10 will stay at the 3-star standard Hotel Lindenhof in Osterspai
in the Rhine Valley.
