DAY 1: UK to St Petersburg
Transfer to the MV Chernishevsky from the airport. Relax before dinner and a piano concert.

 

DAY 2: St Petersburg
Tour St Basil island, the Building of Exchange, Palace Square, Nevsky Prospect, St Isaac Cathedral, Church on the Spilled Blood and the Peter and Paul Fortress. After lunch, visit the Hermitage Museum. Then why not join an optional excursion to the Russian ballet or folklore show?

 

DAY 3: St Petersburg
Today you could join an optional excursion to the elegant Catherine Palace and Park, summer residence of the Russian Tsars, followed by a tour of Peterhof lower park. We sail after lunch.

 

DAY 4: Scenic Waterways & Mandrogy
A full day’s cruising across Russia’s intricate waterways, including Europe’s largest lake, Lake Ladoga. A sail along the Sivir River takes us to the model Russian community at Mandrogy. We head on to Lake Onega.

 

DAY 5: Kizhi
An early morning cruise along Europe’s second largest lake, Onega, to the island village of Kizhi. A walking tour through the Open Air Museum of Architecture before lunch. During our sail today there is chance to join in a Russian language lesson and tea party as we sail.

 

DAY 6: Volga-Baltic Waterway & Goritzy
We continue cruising along the Volga-Baltic waterway that links the Volga with the Baltic. At Goritzy we visit the Monastery of St Cyril and the Museum of Icons. Tonight there will be a typical Russian dinner on board.

 

DAY 7: Yaroslavl
At Yaroslavl we take a guided tour, visiting the Church of St Elijah the Prophet, the Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker, plus an interactive tour of the former Governor’s House. Free time to explore the local market.

 

DAY 8: Uglich
A walking tour after breakfast through Uglich and a visit to the Church of St Dmitry on the Blood, built where Ivan the Terrible's son Dmitry was mysteriously killed. We will then visit the Transfiguration Cathedral before sailing this afternoon. Lunch and dinner on board.

 

DAY 9: Moscow Canal and Moscow
A cruise along the Moscow Canal to the Russian capital and a half-day city tour, including Red Square, views of New Maiden Convent and Sparrow Hills. Moscow tour by night is an option.

 

DAY 10: Moscow
No visit to this enchanting city would be complete without seeing the Kremlin, its towers, cathedrals and palaces. After lunch, there is an optional excursion to a Russian Circus. Enjoy music and dance on your final night in Russia.

 

DAY 11: Moscow to UK
After breakfast, disembark and transfer to Moscow airport for your return flight.
