Rhineland Wine
Festivals
Experience a traditional German ‘Weinfest’, combining the
best of local wine with traditional Rhineland fun-filled festivities
– a real chance to party with the locals!
AUG 14 DEPARTURE – RÜDESHEIM Soak up the atmosphere at the
‘5-star wine festival’ in the Rheingau wine district. The
festivities are based around the romantic market square in
the centre of Rüdesheim and the vibrant wine pubs of the ever-popular
Drosselgasse. Events include the yearly Wine Queen procession
and live music and dancing.
OCT 3 DEPARTURE – BOPPARD Take time to explore the many wine
stalls along the Rhine promenade and market square, each hosted
by a local vintner. A fine selection of wines from the Bopparder
Hamm vineyard – one of the largest in the Rhine valley – are
on offer. Festivities include brass band music, with a spectacular
fireworks finale.
Rhine in Flames Festivals
Explosions of fireworks light up the sky, while flotillas
of boats illuminate the prettiest stretch of the River Rhine.
Take part in this pyrotechnic extravaganza, enjoying the sparkling
celebrations gracing the picturesque riverside!
SEP 21 DEPARTURE – NIGHT OF A THOUSAND FIRES A procession
of boats cruise through the dramatic valley of the Loreley,
from St. Goar to Oberwesel, through the narrowest and deepest
point of the Rhine gorge. The night sky is transformed into
a sea of light, while spectacular fireworks ignite to music
echoing between the steep cliffs.
SEP 19 DEPARTURE – THE LORELEY NIGHT Legend tells of a siren
known as ‘Loreley’, whose beauty and haunting song so entranced
the passing sailors, that they would often crash onto the
rocks and drown in the river. Perhaps the most romantic of
all celebrations, enjoy the combination of fireworks and music,
as a flotilla of 50 boats sail to the famous Loreley Rock.
