Rome &
Heart of Tuscany - Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1:
UK to Rome Fly from your chosen airport to Rome, where
you will be met and transferred to the Hotel
Aris Garden (3*) for our two night stay on the
outskirts of Rome. The hotel benefits from
lovely gardens and a swimming pool, perfect
for relaxing after a days sightseeing in the city.
Meet your fellow travellers over dinner this
evening. (D)
DAY 5: Pisa to Lucca Discover two of Tuscany’s
gems today. Pisa, home of the breathtaking Leaning Tower,
has a wealth of other attractions that are often overlooked.
The Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles) houses medieval
masterpieces such as the Baptistry and the Camposanto. Lucca
is the most gracious of Tuscany’s provincial capitals,
set inside a ring of Renaissance walls, the city is easily
explored on foot, and the numerous alleyways and attractive
squares add character and atmosphere to this charming city.
(B, D)
DAY 2: Rome Enjoy a full day in the Eternal City. In the
morning, there will be an included city tour
taking in some of the highlights of this
marvellous place, including the Trevi Fountain,
the Spanish Steps, and the Colloseum. In the
afternoon, we visit the Sistine Chapel, home
to one of the most impressive displays of
individual creativity - Michelangelo’s Frescoes.
(B,D)
DAY 6: Scenic Chianti Today we head in to the
country to the stunning Chianti region, famed by the wine
of the same name. The countryside stretches on for miles,
lined with vines, and the beautiful villages are dotted throughout,
seemingly untouched by time. Along the way we stop to tast
the locally produced wine. (B, D)
DAY 3: Rome to Montecatini Leaving Rome behind, we
journey north in to Tuscany, through the splendid Italian
landscape, to the beautiful Tuscan city of Siena, where we
enjoy a short guided city tour through the labrynth of delightful
alley-ways, and the most recognisable square in Italy, the
shell-shaped Il Campo. From Siena, we head northwards again
to San Gimignano, one of the most delightful Tuscan hilltop
towns. After exploring the streets of this pretty town, we
head to Montecatini Terme for our four night stay at the Park
Hotel Le Sorghenti (4*), a beautiful hotel that is set in
lush gardens, and offers a very peaceful and relaxing stay.
(B,D)
DAY 7: Montecatini to Rome Leaving Montecatini behind,
we travel southwards to Assisi, which enjoys a pretty location
on the slopes of Mount Subasio and which is, of course, famous
as the home of St Francis. Continuing south, we arrive in
Rome, to the Hotel Aris Gardeen (3*) for dinner and our overnight
stay. (B,D)
DAY 4: Florence From Montecatini it is
only a short journey to Italy’s city of art, Florence.
On arrival enjoy an included guided city tour, taking in some
of the highlights including the Duomo, the Ponte Vechhio bridge,
and the Piazza Della Signoria, which is like an outdoor museum.
This afternoon enjoy free time to explore, perhaps visit the
Uffuzi gallery or browse the wonderful shops and markets.
(B, D)
DAY 8: Rome to UK Transfer to the airport,
for your flight back to the UK. (B)
