Papal Audience Rome & The Vatican - 8 Day Holiday Itinerary
DAY 1: Express
overnight journey towards Italy.
DAY 2: Afternoon arrival at our hotel in Fiuggi,
a delightful spa town, south of Rome, where we stay for
five nights.
DAY 3: Rome (included) Enjoy the
first of our visits to Rome, as you spend a full day discovering
the delights of this magical city. Enjoy our guided sightseeing
tour by coach and on foot (included), which takes in St.
Peter’s Square, the Trevi Fountain and the Roman’s greatest
amphitheatre – the Colosseum! B
DAY 4:
Pompeii & Sorrento (optinal) Accompanied
by a guide, we discover the history and life of the great
Roman city of Pompeii, buried in the eruption of 79AD. Pompeii
holds an intense fascination for visitors today and is a
site that cannot fail to impress. We continue to the breathtaking
resort of Sorrento, with its picturesque harbour and narrow
streets, boasting a myriad of restaurants, shops and hidden
delights. B
DAY 5:
Castel Gandolfo & Frascati (optional). We pay
a short visit to the small town of Castel Gandolfo (home
of the Pope’s summer residence), overlooking Lake Albano,
then through the countryside to Frascati, where we have
the chance to sample the region’s famous wines. B
DAY 6:
Rome & Papal Audience (included). An early
start this morning, as we head to the ‘eternal city’ of
Rome for the highlight of our tour. Enjoy the Papal Audience
this morning. The Papal Audience will take place in the
Audience Hall - according to seasonal conditions and the
number of pilgrims involved. Later, explore Rome at your
leisure, with plenty of free time for sightseeing and shopping.
We do not leave for Fiuggi until early evening, allowing
you the opportunity to purchase dinner in Rome. B.
DAY 7:
We begin our express overnight journey
north. B
DAY 8: We continue
to Calais, then return home. B
