Holiday Itinerary


DAY 1: ARRIVE NAIROBI , KENYA
Explore Kenya's wildlife and stunning natural vistas which include numerous game drives that take you in search of the "Big 5" (lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos) on your safari adventure. Today f y to Nairobi, Kenya for your overnight stay.


DAY 2: NAIROBI - SAMBURU RESERVE
Set off for Samburu Reserve, home to some of Africa's most exotic wildlife – the "Big 5," Reticulated Giraffe and Grevy's Zebra. Enjoy a game drive en route to your riverside lodge.
Today breakfast and lunch will be included.

 

DAY 3: SAMBURU RESERVE
Bring your camera as you continue searching for the elusive "Big 5" on a journey through the rugged Samburu region. The striking contrast of sand, sky and bush will leave you breathless and be on the lookout for the spectacular local bird life; over 365 species of birds are known to inhabit Samburu.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

DAY 4: SAMBURU - NANYUKI - MT. KENYA SAFARI CLUB
Arrive at the sprawling, world-famous Mt. Kenya Safari Club in the shadow of Mt. Kenya. The resort shares its delightful history and beautiful grounds with you; it was once the private hunting lodge and retreat of actor William Holden.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

DAY 5: MT. KENYA SAFARI CLUB

A full day at leisure gives you time to independently explore the Mt. Kenya Safari Club. Stroll through 100 acres of landscaped gardens; visit the animal orphanage; or unwind by the pool. Perhaps embark on an optional excursion to the Sweetwater Private Sanctuary.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.


DAY 6: NANYUKI - KIGIO WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY
This morning, drive past the mountains via Nyahururu waterfalls and arrive at the fl oor of the Great Rift Valley at Kigio, a private all-suite eco lodge and conservancy teeming with bio-diversity. Take an afternoon nature walk for close viewing of several species of birds and indigenous plants. Later this evening, a local expert discusses conservation and community.

DAY 7: KIGIO - LAKE ELEMENTEITA - KIGIO
After a morning walk, savour a traditional breakfast in the bush. After,see many of the local projects that are supported by the conservancy including basket making by widows, jewellery making from recycled paper, rug weaving and the local school. Continue to Lake Elementeita. Enjoy a picnic lunch before setting off on a game drive where you may see thousands of flamingos then return to Kigio.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.


DAY 8: KIGIO - MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
This morning, travel to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Masai Mara – an extension of the great Serengeti Plain – is considered the most stunning game viewing spot in all of Kenya; lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants and other wildlife reside here. Your tent provides all the deluxe amenities of a lodge, complete with the adventure of the wild. Visit a Masai village prior to your game drive and this evening, enjoy a traditional bush dinner featuring a Masai dance performance.

DAY 9: MASAI MARA
An optional hot air balloon ride over the plains is available this morning and your full-day game drive includes a picnic lunch. After, return to your hotel in the Masai Mara for sunset

DAY 10: MASAI MARA - NAIROBI
After breakfast, return to Nairobi then travel to Karen, on the outskirts of Nairobi, and visit the farmhouse of Karen Blixen, author of the book "Out of Africa". Experience the local wildlife fi rsthand as you have the opportunity to feed the endangered Rothschild giraffes from a raised platform at the Giraffe Sanctuary.

DAY 11: NAIROBI - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
This morning depart Nairobi for Amboseli National Park, famous for its open plains where lions and elephants roam and the breathtaking snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro dominates the landscape. Enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge.
Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

 

DAY 12: AMBOSELI
Further explore Amboseli with two game drives – your fi nal chance to see the "Big 5."

DAY 13: AMBOSELI - NAIROBI - DEPART FOR HOME
Return to Nairobi and visit the students at Tenderfeet Education Center, supported by the Collette Foundation*. This school helps orphans and high risk children in Riruta, a suburb of Nairobi. A day room has been reserved for you to freshen up and enjoy some leisure time. Your tour ends this evening in Nairobi.

• A Kenyan Visa is required for this tour at your expense. This can be purchased upon arrival in Nairobi. One blank page is required in your passport to allow for visa on arrival. The approximate cost is £70 per person.
• Soft duffel bag luggage is required for this tour with maximum weight of 15 kgs.
• Single rooms are on request only and are extremely limited.
• Smaller buses, which may not be lavatory equipped, may be used on this programme. In this case, frequent stops are made during travel periods.
