DAY 1: Door-to-door
departure, then we travel to the Rhine Valley for a four-night
stay.
DAY 2: Cochem
and the Moselle Valley (optional) Wander around the
quaint lanes and pretty squares of
Koblenz. There’s a definite medieval
atmosphere in Cochem, especially if you
visit the old castle. Try some local red and
white wines at the House of Anton
Hammes in Alken on our optional
winetasting experience. B,D
DAY 3: The Rhine Valley
(included)
This area is full of legends, like that of the
Loreley Rock. There’s a wonderful walk
along the pretty Rhine Promenade in
Boppard to catch the sights along the river,
and be prepared for some strange noises
coming from the world’s largest cuckoo
clock shop in St. Goar! Exploring the
Rhine Gorge on our optional river cruise
is a quiet and calming experience, offering
great castle and village photo opportunities
on both sides of the river. B,D
DAY 4:
Rüdesheim (included). We visit
the picturesque riverside ‘wine town’ of
Rüdesheim, where we can explore the
Drosselgasse, a narrow street with cosy
cafés, shops and bars. In the afternoon,
perhaps join an optional trip across the
river on the oldest paddle ship on the
Rhine, the MS Goethe, to Bingen to visit
the third Rhineland-Palatinate Garden
Show with its beautiful displays of flowers,
exhibitions and events. This optional
excursion is available on all departures
except for Apr 7 and Oct 27. B,D
DAY 5:
Journey
to Calais then return home via our door-to-door service.

Your Hotels
You will have your own
room for the duration of your four-night stay at the well-established
3-star Hotel Alte Bauernschänke in Assmannshausen. The hotel
is typically ‘Rhineland’ in style, with an atmosphere to match,
and 2008 is the hotel’s 600th anniversary. There’s a lift,
restaurant and large bar area. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone
and safe.
Please Note: Sep 29 departure will stay at the 3-star Hotel
Lamm in Assmannshausen.
