DAY 6: Yalta

Before dinner at the hotel there will be a chance to savour some local wines on our optional Massandra Winery visit. (B,D)
DAY 2: Kiev
Kiev is the mother city for all Eastern Slavic peoples and therefore the architecture, religion, folklore and culture is a legacy from a millennium of history. We have an included all day sightseeing tour of the city featuring Vladimir Cathedral, the University, Opera House, Golden Gates, Michael's Cathedral, The Old Town, Andrew's Slope, and visits to The History Museum and St. Sofia Cathedral. Dinner this evening will be in a local restaurant before continuing our journey to the south, on an overnight train in first class cabins, from Kiev to the port of Odessa on the Black Sea coast. (B,D)
DAY 7: Yalta
A morning visit to Yalta's Vorontsov Palace and Park is included with a magnificent photo opportunity at the Swallow's Nest Observation Point. The afternoon is free for relaxation but garden lovers may wish to join an optional visit to the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens. (B,D)
DAY 3: Odessa
Once we arrive in Odessa we take breakfast in a local restaurant. An included morning city sightseeing tour has been arranged to include Vorontsov Palace, Primorsky Boulevard, Potemkin Steps, the British Tiger Gun captured in 1854 during the Crimean campaign, and Opera House. After settling in at the Chernoye More Hotel (4*) or similar for two nights, the rest of the day is free to relax or to take an optional visit to the Archaeological Museum. (B,D)
DAY 8: Yalta via Sevastopol to Kiev
Leaving the hotel, our tour continues within the Crimea today as we travel to Sevastopol. We gain a fascinating insight into the Crimean War era on our included sightseeing tour of Sevastopol town bastions, Lord Raglan's observation point of the `Light Infantry' and the Valley of Death, where ª..onward rode the 600º. The whole of the north valley can be seen and the events of 25th October 1854 explained. Then on to Balaclava harbour, Malakhov Hill and both the White Tower and Panorama Museums. The Panorama Museum in Sevastopol holds an evocative 360-degree painting and relief model vividly capturing the siege by the British, French and Turks in 1855. We end this memorable day with a transfer to Simferopol and dinner in a local restaurant, before our included flight departs to Kiev where we spend our final two nights at the Rus Hotel (3*) or similar. (B,D)

DAY 9: Kiev
Our included visit this morning is to Perchersk Lavra Monastery and caves. Spread across the wooded slopes above the Dnipro River, it is aunique display of gold-domed churches with underground labyrinths lined with mummified monks and elegant monastic buildings, now museums, one of which has a hoard of Scythian gold to match that of the Hermitage in St.Petersburg. There will still be plenty of independent time with the afternoon at leisure for some last minute shopping. An optional Dnipro River cruise will also be available before our farewell dinner in a local restaurant. (B,D)
