Army. Ninety years later, join us as we visit the Arras
battlefields and attend the Canadian memorial ceremonies
at Vimy Ridge

Ridge and Arras Anniversary Tour Itinerary
DAY 1: We travel
to northern France.
DAY 3: Vimy Ridge (included) On 9th April, the 90th anniversary of
the battle, we attend the Vimy Ridge commemorations at the
Canadian Memorial Park, seeing the battlefield and visitors
centre – we also see the newly renovated Vimy Memorial.
Lunchtime in central Arras and in the afternoon we attend
any other special events or exhibitions that are put on
to coincide with the anniversary, or other selected sites
on the battlefields around Arras. The exact itinerary for
this day will be confirmed closer to the time of the tour
to ensure that we accommodate any special events. B
DAY 2: Arras (included) We begin
at the Arras Memorial where more than 35,000 soldiers are
named, then go out to the ground captured on the first day,
seeing the 9th (Scottish) Division memorial at the Pont
du Jour, and the Royal Naval Division Memorial at Gavrelle.
At Roeux, we see the site of the ‘Chemical Works’
and nearby German bunker. We then see the Seaforths Memorial
at Fampoux, examining their tragic attack from the sunken
lane. We stop for lunch in central Arras, followed by a
visit to war poet Edward Thomas’s grave at Agny, then
onto Monchy le Preux for the Newfoundland Memorial and story
of the Royal Fusiliers. We follow the Hindenburg Line defences,
ending at Bullecourt, where the Australians lost more than
10,000 men in the fighting and see the Digger Memorial.

DAY 4:
Notre Dame de Lorette (included) On our
final morning, we visit the huge French National Cemetery
and Memorial at Notre Dame de Lorette, before departing
for Calais and onward travel home. B
